Olim who have been in Israel for at least 6 months and are not employed, are entitled to a monthly living allowance through Misrad HaKlita, as follows. Note that unemployment benefits begin AFTER Sal Klita payments finish.

Single Oleh:        1,342 NIS

Couple:              1,976 NIS

Couple + 1:         2,362 NIS

Couple + 2:         2,733 NIS (This is the maximum a family can receive.)

You are NOT eligible to receive a living allowance if:

1. You are a student in any academic framework.

2. Though you are unemployed, your spouse is already employed.

To begin receiving your living allowance, please contact your Misrad HaKlita counselor.

This living allowance is only provided during the first year of your Aliyah.  If you are unemployed 12 months after your Aliyah, or are earning below minimum wage, you may be entitled to Havtachat Hachnasa (income support) from Bituach Leumi.

You cannot receive these payments retroactively. This means that if you ask for payments, for example, in the 9th month after your Aliyah, you will receive only payments for the 9th through the 12th month and NOT for the 7th and 8th month.
